Chapter 2 begins

Today marks the official launch of my new venture into the world of architectural & environmental design consultancy. If you’re reading this - thanks for stopping by.

So, what’s in a name? Chapter 2 not only describes this new dawn in my career but also relates to the projects I aspire to work on: prioritising renovation and refit over new build where possible, and giving existing buildings a second chapter to enjoy, potentially with a totally new purpose and set of users. This will spur creative re-use (some of my career highlights to date) and help chip away at the problem that is the UK’s poorly performing existing building stock.

When I left my old practice, everyone wished me ‘good luck with chapter 2’ or said ‘I’m certain chapter 2 will be a great success…’ so the name kind of stuck around.

I hope to take all the best bits I enjoyed from my previous roles and apply them here along with new skills I have acquired, like Passive House. My training continues as I seek to widen my ‘generalist’ skillset and find new and exciting ways to slot into design teams, help solve design problems and make projects succeed. If this sounds like an opportunity to collaborate, then let’s talk - over the phone, over a coffee (or something stronger), on the golf course, on social media…

I’ll be out and about in March at various events including at FutureBuild on 8-9th March, and at the Women in Property visit to The Newt on the 15th, so please come and say hello. Chapter 2 Architects will also be popping up on various social media platforms, so please seek us out for the latest news.
